In 2012 Selkirk College obtained a TEDx license as part of its Learning Region initiative. Although the definition of a learning region is still being debated, at the core it is “an explicit commitment to placing innovation and learning at the core of development.”[1]Working with four school districts, the public libraries and a literacy organization, the College has created public debates, book clubs and three TEDx events. A TEDx license was sought because TED’s mission to support independent organizers that have “ideas worth spreading” met the need for dialogue between the College and other informal and formal education institutions. The 2014 TEDx event focused on Internationalization. In the poster and roundtable presentations you will learn how student and faculty perspectives on internationalization supported and enlarged our Learning Region’s understanding of internationalization.
