This session discusses how post-secondary institutions can use intercultural communication, and adaptation theory and research, to inform and shape student success programming, creating a praxis that is beneficial to the international students and the institution. International students face complex challenges in studying in Canada, having to quickly develop new skills to be able to effectively participate and interact in their host environment. International students involved in my research identified that it is necessary to acquire new skills and knowledge, and sometimes, new attitudes to be able to navigate their new environment successfully. The participants also identified that these transformative processes can lead to challenges in identity.
